Bekky was born in Geneva, Switzerland, where she lived until the age of 18. She spent the next ten years travelling, living and working in Europe, the Middle East, East Africa and South America.
In 2006, she embarked on a four-year degree course at the University of Brighton and discovered the immense world of ceramics. With wonderful established artists for tutors, it is here that her passion for working with clay began.
Her studio is nestled on a farm in the beautiful Sussex countryside, surrounded by what is vital to her creativity: nature, stillness and her dog Lola. Creating her work is a meditative process, her pieces are simple, asymmetrical and unassuming, inspired by the wabi-sabi philosophy.
‘Working with clay is deeply nourishing to the soul and it brings me a sense of balance and grounding. And I love the inherent imperfection and wobbles of my pots - they illustrate the journey.'
