You can never tell how the month of August is going to pan out. Children are on Summer holidays as are many others. Whilst the majority of Bristol is jetting off on their vacations, Bristol sees an influx of tourist and holiday makers ready to see what the city has to offer!

August has seen many new additions to Objets De Desir. Perfect for this time of year and to coincide with the Bristol Balloon Fiesta. With the sunshine beautifully pouring in through our shop window, we are so glad to be on Boyce Avenue!

Striking new cards and prints (and lampshades) by illustrator and print-maker Sophie Collette. They were perfect for the balloon fiesta at the weekend and for anyone wanting to take a memento home from Bristol. Sophie loves plants, the countryside, trees and wildlife which is a clear influence in her work. As well as illustration, Sophie explores screen and relief printing, printing from lino and woodcut, lampshade making, and even Floristry.

We have had very positive feedback from the people of Bristol about Jane Booth's beautiful ceramic collection. They brighten up the shop as well as our customers day! We are very pleased to be stocking these earthenware beauties which are locally made in Bristol. Each ceramic mug comes in its very own illustrated box, perfect to give as a gift or to transport it safely home to your own coffee table. We are also stocking bowls and jugs in this collection. My favourite piece has already sold...I should have been quicker!

We'd also like to introduce you to Quazi Designs! We are very happy to be stocking these innovative designs that have such a great ethos behind the making of them. Based in Swaziland, they promote 'design for sustainable change and social impact, creating responsible and thoughtful products by transforming discarded waste magazines into original accessories and interiors'. We love the vibrancy of the jewellery which contrasts so beautifully with the gold tones from the brass. Also in addition to this all Quazi Designs' products are 'hand made by local women, empowering them through skill sharing and a living wage'.
